A Stow man awaiting trial on multiple robbery charges has been arrested on new charges accusing him of robbing a Stow drugstore, an Akron sandwich shop and trying to rob a Walmart in Ravenna Township.Joseph Richard Schratz, 40, is back in the Summit County Jail facing three more robbery charges on top of the robbery charges levied in September. He was freed from jail last fall on a $2,500 bond to await trial in March in Summit County Common Pleas Court.According to Portage County sheriff’s deputies, Schratz tried to rob a Walmart cashier about 2 a.m. Saturday inside the state Route 59 store. He showed the cashier a gun, but fled empty-handed when the cashier struggled to open her register.An investigation into the Walmart robbery led detectives to link Schratz to a robbery that same morning at the CVS store at 3352 Kent Road.Schratz also is accused in Akron Municipal Court of robbing the Subway sandwich shop at 2068 E. Market St. last weekend.Schratz was arrested Tuesday at his home. He is scheduled for trial March 12 before Judge Tammy O’Brien on robbery charges brought in September. He is accused of robbing or attempting to rob stores in Akron, Cuyahoga Falls and Stow.O’Brien has revoked his bond following his latest arrest. His bond has been increased to $350,000.
